A caffeinated indulgence
I have no idea what this 2021 has in store, I try my best to think optimistic but January is always slow and grey. These days I have done my best to plan for this blog an editorial-ish calendar to stick to during the next following weeks with the aim to. 1) taking photographs as often as possible (Covid-19 permitting) and 2) providing some useful as well as visually pleasing content.
While I am writing, here in Milan we are in lockdown 3.0 since Sunday 17th Jan, meaning that I stay home almost all my time, with F who is homeworking just at my back. Coffee is a trusted and ever-present companion here, although I do my best not to drink it too much as lately my anxiety is seemingly growing. A couple in the morning and a super hot decaf in the afternoon seems to be the perfect treat for me at the moment.
Coffee’s my perfect match while reading a little bit, or as a scented background while sketching some projects ideas. Coffee just like a friend’s hand welcoming me in daydreaming-land. Hence the lovely moodiness I tried to convey in these images, and that’s why I chose a dark-ish colour palette, towards which I am feeling attracted more than ever nowadays, photographically speaking.
Funny because white is my favorite colour and I have a wardrobe of colourful clothes but, when it comes to photography everything changes and I am utterly drawn to creating a moody and dark photographic narrative. Talk about opposites attraction…
