As part of the generation who witnessed the ascent of Trip Hop (and liked it a lot) I wouldn’t have missed Morcheeba, I was super excited when I read of their show here in Milan at Carroponte.
Spoiler: I had high expectations that weren’t disappointed.
When F & I arrived at Carroponte there were really few people: that from one side made me think what a shame for younger generations not to be exposed at (what I consider) great music but from the other side I was happy to join a somewhat intimate concert.
More people arrived and then Morcheeba arrived at 22:10 with the ever-beautiful and seductive Skye: her velvet-y voice plus the calm of her movements on the stage plus some great music really made a fantastic show.
The people who went to watch was basically adults, 40+ I would certainly say, really a missed opportunity for youngsters to enjoy and be inspired by the amazing sounds from the whole band and especially from the guitar of Ross Godfrey.
Here’s the tracklist:
- The Sea
- Friction
- Otherwise
- Never an Easy Way
- Enjoy the Ride
- Oh Oh Yeah
- Trigger Hippie
- Get Along
- Blood Like Lemonade
- The Moon (Irena Žilić cover)
- Let Me See
- Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day
- Summertime (George Gershwin cover)
- Blindfold
