Last 29th November truly was a hard day’s night, so going out for some live music was both a blessing and a cuddle to me.
Add to that, that the plan was to see Pete Doherty himself and acoustic on stage at the Apollo, a new-to-me venue, and you’ll have a good recipe to heal some wounds of the heart.
Overall, I like Pete Doherty. I like that he’s basically a band member “at heart” (God only knows how much I love the concept of playing in a band!), I like that he’s so full of talent, I like his ability to generate beautiful melodies, I like that he’s a guitarist and I like his velvet-y voice.
His concert was raw and beautiful, authentic in so many ways. He was witty, funny, seemed sincere and confident in his (brand new) own skin and it showed. I envied him so much because he seemed to be at peace with where he is in his life. And that is not a small thing accomplishment.
Couldn’t find anywhere online the setlist he played, but the whole people at the Apollo sang each and every song with him. That was beautiful.
(4 stars out of 5 because, you know, less than one hour of concert…)
