Oh, sand. The best blank canvas if you tell me! In my opinion it is one of the best elements to practice with, photography-wise. Apart from its grainy texture (which I love) I think sand makes for a wonderful teacher to train the eye on how to compose an image. Moreover, being sand a simple element I am accustomed to, it forces myself to have a closer look at it and to look at it in my very own way.

Shot at dawn in my hometown beach, in this photo essay my main focus is on composition. Second goal is to capture the calmness of the sand and its openness to embrace those loose random elements nature brings onto it.
